TWO weekly obsessions in one week?? Pearl. Too much hun.
I'm sorry guys, but after you listen to this up and coming female rapper? You will UNDERSTAND why I had to post her as my weekly obsession. Her jack-hammer rhymes and sick spit game gave me all the motivation I needed to study ( and hopefully ace) my lab practical this past thursday. Believe me when I say, you will be hearing much more from this artist in the future. Who is it, you ask?
You can call her Nikki.
Or Cilla Casey, since that is her name.
It's a well known fact that I love discovering underground music, and this up and coming female rap-star is definitely an artist to watch out for in the future. She may be underground for now, but she is steadily burrowing her way to the top.
I had her song "Ill-flow" blasting on repeat this past week. In it, Cilla describes herself as an " individual" and she is definitely just that. Her rap rhythm is something I have never experienced before: fun, upbeat, and a little wacky; absolutely perfect for putting me in a "go-getter" mood during a late-night study sesh.
After listening to Cilla's songs over and over...and OVER again, I fully knew I had to figure out a way to understand the driving force behind this girls motivation. After twittering about a bit, I finally made contact with Cilla Casey, and conducted a very informal Twitter Interview; which officially makes her our first...Celebrity Profile!
During our "interview" Casey told me that she originally started rapping at age 15, as a joke. But as she has progressed into a skilled artist, I would LOVE to know who is laughing now.
"When I became 16 I began to take it [rapping] more seriously; when I was upset or angry I would go to my room and write raps. The most unusual things inspire me- from breaking off a relationship to eating pineapple off a stick LOL. I'm really weird."
When I asked Cilla Casey about her inspirations as an artist; she mentioned Nikki Minaj, "and I really love Kanye west and Michael Jackson."
Well, let it be known that I did warn Kanye, "Imma let you finish...but you better make room at the top, because Cilla Casey is coming."
